A home for Sugar Snap | Anderson, SC & Greenville, SC Custom Photography

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

For a while, I have had a vision. I dreamed of a home for Sugar Snap. In my dreams, I saw high ceilings, exposed brick walls, natural light, hardwood floors, and a modern artsy feel. I also longed that this space be a place that is surrounded by other artist and those who loved the arts. A space so to speak that brought more art to the community.

A few weeks ago, while at a little one’s birthday party, I chased my little 11 month old up a flight of stairs, and down a hallway. There he climbed up on to a glass door and knocked as if he wanted to go in. I took a look through the tinted window and behind that tint I saw everything I had imagined and it was empty! Then it hit me, I was in a place that loved the arts and was a facility for classes, galleries and events and more. I immediately went and ask about the space and to my surprise they were in the process of renting the space.

To make a long story short, after lots of praying we submitted a proposal knowing that we were not the only ones wanting the space. We were not 100% sure that we would be chosen, but none the less continued to believe that the space was ours. Today, I got a phone call from the Executive Director. She wanted me to know that the space is ours and that they looked forward to having Sugar Snap be a part of the center.

For those of you who do not know about the Anderson Arts Center, please check them out. They offer so much for children and adults of all ages and of course welcome your support. My little one is even having his birthday party there this weekend. It’s a great place to celebrate.

So I am proud to show you the new home of Sugar Snap. (Imagine me waving to you from the balcony where the arrow is).

Keep up with us for sure to see all of our updates. Lots of decorating to do ( I will be posting the space and before and after pics)  and party planning as well. Yes, there will be a grand opening and you will not want to miss it!

This would not be possible without you guys! Thanks for loving us in the Upstate and we look forward to lots of sweetness for years to come.

Charming | Anderson, SC Family Photographer

Today, I was charmed by this little guy

He didn’t even have to try and make me love him. From the moment he pulled up on his tricycle…I knew this session was a keeper.

In the beginning he didn’t want to do anything without his older sis. It’s crazy cause I have known these two for a long time.

Little Charmer with his big sister. Gosh, I remember when she was his age. Time flies.

Now she’s in high school and she has turned into such a beautiful young lady. Her mom taught her well. (I loved snapping a quick shot of Mom and Daughter at the end of our shoot).

BTW, it was freezing outside… but you would never know it by her smile.

Right before I took these pics. Little Charmer, took a dive onto some asphalt. Luckily, a kind policeman stopped and offered him some candy, to make it all better. Who knew that our Highway Patrol had blowpops, stashed in the trunk of their cars! Boy was I glad, cause that lollipop worked and back to shooting we went.

I love how he just rests his little head on her shoulder. Reminds me of me and my little brother, minus the “he’s touching me” saga. I assure you there was none of that with the two of them.

Oh, Don’t you just love a little boy in Chucks?

Looks like he is following in Big Sis’ footsteps… I adore this pic.

Hand’s Down…cute! | Greenville, SC Family Photographer

Today’s session delivered a lot of sweetness, but not just in the form of beautiful white snow. I met up with an amazing couple who has a little boy with one of the sweetest little faces in the world.

Doesn’t that grin just make you giggle. I love it. But don’t worry, there is a little serious side to him too.

I couldn’t figure out if he was a Mama’s boy…

Or Daddy’s boy…

So let’s just say “hand’s down”…

He loves them both the best!

Oh and one more… cause he is so dang cute!

I really had a great time on today’s session. Every three months or so, I have the opportunity to photograph this beauty.

I love everything about her… and her eyes always tell a story.

Today, that story included her sweet Mom. Her dad missed out, but that’s ok… he was working hard for his two girls:). I am sure having these two girls in his life makes it all worth while.

Lisa and Steven, thank you for letting me be a part of Ashlyn’s growing. It has been a honor to see her beauty through the lens of my camera.

Yesterday’s creative session holds a special place in my heart. Not because of the location or the snow filled backdrop, but because of the children that were a part of it. I met these two precious kids, shortly after moving into our neighborhood. Their mom Aimee, is a treasure of a person, and we both share a love for photography.

I would see her come and go with two very cute kids- always on the go. One day, she and I were talking and she was planning a trip to VA. I remember her telling me she was going to Arlington to visit her husband. It didn’t hit me until she shared with me that her husband served our country as an EOD for the US Air Force. In April of 2009, he was killed by an improvised explosive devise in Afghanistan. Their lives changed forever.

My husband and I have loved getting to know each of them. Kaiden (who is 4) loves to hang out with my husband “Mr. Shaun” and oftentimes watches out his front window, to see when Shaun comes home. These kids have so much love inside of them and I am always excited to see them, cause they greet me with lots of hugs.

Yesterday, they were outfitted in their Daddy’s combat boots and uniforms. They trampled through the snow with their sweet little feet not quite filling up the big shoes of their Daddy- who fought hard for you and me. There is so much I could say about the heart of this family, but I will let some pictures tell a little of their story.

Today, I and humbled, thankful, and in prayer for men and women who so passionately fight for us in the Armed Forces. But am also thinking of the families that they belong to, and the sacrifices they make. Join me in saying thank you!

Birthday Boy | Anderson, SC & Greenville, SC Children’s & Family Photographer

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

So who likes a good party? I know I do… and a few weeks ago, I was super stoked to hear about one of my little boy’s best bud’s 1st birthday bash. Not only was I excited about celebrating with one of the most handsome little one’s in all of Anderson, but they had ask if I would shoot a family session for them prior to the festivities. I of course could not say no to a family as beautiful as this.

Are they not a stunning family? Oh, and this family is VERY talented too! Check out their Etsy Store under seller BENSKEEDESIGNS. They have created and designed, one of a kind Animal Alphabet Cards. They are a must have for any little one you may know. (Just ask my 1 year old who loves his). To top it off, these cards were the center piece for this completely “happening” party.

Ok, so back to this family. So, did I tell you that this birthday boy just learned to walk? Yeah, he walked straight into my heart this day.

But as you can see here… he stole his mommy and daddy’s hearts long ago. Something tells me, that this kid does not lack any kisses. Don’t you love sweet kisses?

And even more, little sweet 1 year old toes.

Happy 1st Birthday Benjamin. You are precious!

PS. Here is a little “Where’s Benjamin” contest.

The first to email me chasity@sugarsnapin.com and tell me where the the birthday boy is in this picture wins a free creative session. Happy day!

Warm Smiles | Anderson, SC Family & Children’s Photographer

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

The new year is here, and I we have started the year off right with some really awesome sessions. I have to say, I love my clients! Not just because you all are sweet, beautiful and great subjects to photograph, but because of your unconditional support. It’s the coldest month of the year, but I am (thankfully) staying booked out. Even with the windchill, I get to keep snappin’ (Insert warm smile).

Just a couple days ago, I got to spend some time with these two little ladies. When we were not freezing (it was about 26 degrees), we were busy making each other smile.

These girls were troopers, and you can’t even tell they were FREEZING can you?

When I was getting solo shots, the other would run sit in their Grandma’s car.

Warm Car=Warm Smiles

The girls changed into something a little warmer and we headed downtown to the railroad tracks.

I fell in love with the two pictures below. So much warmth in them with the gold tones. Are you warming up?

On a day like this, there is nothing better than warm hands

Warms your heart, doesn’t it?

Sweet New Year, Sweet New Look | Anderson & Greenville, SC Custom Photography

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Today is such an exciting day for me because we are launching our new website, releasing our new logo, and introducing our updated branding to you! This has been a project that has been so near and dear to my heart over the past few months and I am so pleased with the end result.

I cannot express how incredibly thankful I am for Marco Suarez of Greenville, SC for designing our new logo and helping me with the new branding. If you need design work, check him out here. He is a true artist with a creative soul that is like none other! His artwork is also sold on Etsy, and I believe he has been featured on Etsy’s home page many times:)

Before I show you the before and afters, I have to tell you about my amazing husband, Shaun. Not only is he a dream of a husband, an incredible daddy to our son Maddox, but he is also an unbelievable Web Developer and he is the one who built my new site. Over the past few months, I know there have been times when I went overboard on my requests for my new site and I probably drove him crazy. But through it all, he rocked my new site out. From the gallery design, to the homepage…. he created a site that I am in love with… and not one pixel of my site is in FLASH! (Which means even the galleries and full site will show on iphones, other phones and even IPads).

So take a look at our before and after pics. And be sure to spread the word about Sugar Snap. We are booking winter and spring sessions now.

Would love your comments:)
